Hello and welcome! We’re Shane and Helen (with our son Oscar behind the scenes!), the family behind KitSmart.

Our journey began in September 2025, driven by a shared passion for thoughtful design, practical living, and clever spaces.

Shane’s Design and Engineering: As an industrial designer, researcher, and former Head of Department at Auckland University of Technology (AUT), Shane brings deep expertise in human-centred design, product engineering, and innovation to every KitSmart creation. With a career rooted in thoughtful problem-solving and rigorous design-led development, he combines precision craftsmanship with smart engineering—building durable, functional pieces designed to adapt to real family life.

Helen’s Perspective: As a teacher, Helen brings a natural warmth, deep empathy, and a genuine understanding of families to every KitSmart interaction. She takes the time to listen to parents' real needs, helping you find the ideal pieces for your children with a personal and supportive touch.
